Debind & Sinter

Debinding

This is the first step after 3D printing the contour or desired part to remove the polymer or wax binder from the metal or ceramic particles. Debinding can be a pure thermal process dissolving all the organic components, or it can use solvents like alcohols, water, or acids. Originating from a research center, RHP has all the different processes in-house. We can use all commercial available binder systems, down to our own, customized mixtures and recipes.

Sintering

When the parts are debinded, most of the organics are removed. Mainly the component "backbone" shall stay, besides the metal or ceramic powder. This residual backbone is removed thermally just at the moment when the sinter-necks are formed and the parts become stable themselves.

We have batch sintering furnaces for metals and for ceramics, serving various atmospheres needed. This includes hydrogen, inert gases like nitrogen or argon, as well as forming gases or air. Most furnaces can operate under vacuum, high vacuum, or atmospheric pressures. With some special equipement we offer SinterHIP and HIPing.
